Since I didn't have any great inspiration to write about today, I wanted to return to sing more praise for one of my new favorite bands - of Montreal. Actually, I was watching the Bears-Packers game yesterday, so all TV programs and DVD viewing got put on hold. Many of my sports writer colleagues will wax very poetically about the Monsters of the Midway and their heart stopping win over Green Bay, so I don't have to.
If you aren't already on the of Montreal bandwagon, (there's my sports euphemism for the day) the best way that I can convince you, is to let their music do the talking.
You probably didn't know (neither did I, until researching the band) that several of Kevin Barnes' songs have been used in commercials.
Here is the song "Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Things" which was used in an Outback Steakhouse commercial (with some lyric changes)
Now here is the TV commercial:
This is the video for "Coquette Coquette" - for my money, the best song on the new album, "False Priest."
Here is a link to an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman
In trying to find the best videos to show, a number of them were disabled by the record company (hey, aren't you in the business of promoting your acts?) or weren't allowed to be embedded. Some had adverts that I didn't feel like promoting. However, here's another live one for "An Eluardian Instance" from "Skeletal Lamping," probably the second best of the albums I've heard, after "Satanic Panic In the Attic."
For more stuff, you can certainly check them out at YourTube or go to the record label's page:
