It's Monday so here's a little motivation to get you started for the week. The NYC marathon was cancelled last week and no doubt there were many disappointed runners. However, many of them decided to make yesterday a day in which they helped the Hurricane Sandy victims. I read two great posts about runners using their efforts to get aid, help the red cross and collect money to help the victims. I'm sure that many of the runners were upset about the race cancellation. Clearly, they were not planning on that. Life happens though and things don't always work out the way we plan. So, how do we go out and deal with it? I'm so happy the runners stayed positive and chose to help out those in need. Instead of being mad all day, Sunday will now have been the day they chose to make a difference in the lives of someone else. Something, I'm sure, they'll never forget.
Side note: If you have never done a 5k run or walk, but have always thought about it I suggest you sign up for one. It's a great way to help out a cause in need. Not to mention help you become healthier and more fit. You'll be doing yourself and someone else a lot of good. I have no doubt you would feel the positive effects of participating in one.
When things don't work out exactly the way you planned, take a moment and think how you can positively turn the situation around. It may not be easy, but most things worthwhile never are. You are the captain of your life. Which direction will you choose to take?
