Nike Chicago is open finally open! If you're like me you've been passing by Michigan Ave. wondering when the revamped store would be open. While I was walking around I heard so many tourists say,"we need to go to the Nike store next". I continued walking and felt bad that they would miss out on one of the best stores Michigan Ave. has to offer.
The day began like any other, when a small card was delivered to my door by a Nike team member. I would use this awesome Nike business card holder and the wooden card inside to gain entry to the party. That night I arrived and was escorted to the back alley. On any other night with any other company I would be greatly concerned, however Nike always comes up with unique details. I checked in and then had to use my card to punch in a code that would grant me access to the new Nike Chicago.
After a fun elevator ride I was lifted up to the new Room 23. Twenty-three...get it? Upstairs I was excited to see lots of people like Sarah Spain (she wrote a really cool blog post about the event as well), Kelli Zink, D.C. Crenshaw, Cindy Hamilton and many others. It was great to catch up with everyone. We were told this room would be use for events and special occasions.
We were then taken on a tour of the renamed Niketown. You'll see many new updates with reclaimed wood floors, which happen to come from area high schools and basketball nets from the Chicago parks adorn the walls. Special tribute is paid to our Chicago athletes like Michael Jordan, Walter Payton, Scottie Pippen and Brian Urlacher. Upstairs you'll find a whole section dedicated to Nike ID where you get to customize and design new shoes.
You can click through the pictures to get an idea of some of the new stuff at Nike Chicago before you head in. Be sure to follow @nikechicago on twitter for updates, contests and events about the store.
Have a fun and fit day, Chicago.
