This passed weekend was the 11th Annual Girls on the Run Annual Gala. It was a great evening full of great food, drink, music and fun. All of it was for a great cause. There was a silent auction and a live auction, featuring awesome experiences and memorabilia. When walking into the room at the Drake hotel you were met with pink lights and sparkly accents, hence the name of the event Sparkle and Shine. It set the mood for displaying pictures and letters from many of the girls benefiting from the organization.
In case you are unaware, the Girls on the Run organization is a non-profit organization whose mission is to, "To educate and prepare girls for a life time of self-respect and healthy living". This is accomplished by training the girls for a 5k, building their self esteem and promoting positive messages. I was honored to be at this event and was touched by the stories and pictures of the girls who have completed the program.
