A look at the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k

The Ram Racing Hot Chocolate 15k/5k was last weekend, and it was a blast! It was my first year attending the event and it definitely lived up to my expectations.  This year the race was host to 30,000 runners.  The race was sponsored by Ghirardelli Chocolate, yummy goodness.  It was a very cold morning with temperatures between 35-48 during the race.  I bundled up with my new Nike running hoodie (which had mittens built in-so handy, literally).  I also had my Nike sport band(just like every other race) to keep me motivated while running.

Another thing that I tried out for the first time was 110% compression shorts and calf sleeves.  I was given a pair to try out and I thought this would be the perfect time.  I thought they would keep me warm as well during this cool race, and they did.  The reason why I decided to try 110% versus another compression company is because they have pockets built into their gear for ice packs(that come with your gear) to immediately start icing.  It was so convenient! Now, there is no excuse to not ice your body right away after an event.

The Hot Chocolate race is geared for the chocolate lovers.  And really, who doesn't like chocolate? After the race there were chocolate fountains, hot chocolate and chocolate squares to take home.  There was a band and an area for the kids to play and have fun as well.  If you've ever thought about doing a race check out the fun that this one provides.

Have a fun and fit day, Chicago.
