In case some of you didn't get the chance to listen, or didn't know, I was on Chicago Now Radio a week and a half ago. I had a great time being on air with host Bill Leff. It was also a pleasure to meet one of my other bloggers, Dr. Jeff.
If you haven't listened to Chicago Now Radio yet, be sure to check it out. One of the great things people really enjoy about the show is the variety of topics. There are always different bloggers that bring a topic to the show. So you won't be bombarded with one specific issue going on in the media, for the entire day. During the show you can tweet and call in to get your questions answers by the bloggers in studio. We always want to know what you would like to hear. So check out the show this week and let me know if you have any suggestions.
The whole point of bringing up the radio show was because of an experience I mentioned. I recently had a bout of dehydration. It was/is embarrassing to admit, but I felt it was important to share my experience. There was this week long period in which I was busy with appearances, games, working out and work. I was just not drinking enough water. The more I started to feel sluggish and tired I turned to lattes (with espresso) and energy drinks. I know I know, I talked about being conscious of these drinks and how they effect your body not too long ago. Hence, my embarrassment, as I should know better. And I do.
I have since limited myself to coffee products or energy drinks only
once a week. (I am not saying that everyone has to cut these things
out of their lives. I am merely saying what I have chosen to do).
I've also made myself conscience of how much water I'm actually
drinking every day. Especially since the cold winter months are upon
us and reek havoc on our skin, getting the recommended 6-8 glasses of
water a day is very beneficial.
With the holidays coming up, there is no doubt the next few weeks will
be extremely busy and possibly stressful. If you start to feel
sluggish, sick and tired try to find time to rest up and relax. It is
so easy to turn to things that we think will give us energy instead of
the things our body needs. Which is, fluids such as water, tea coconut
water (which has electrolytes without added unnatural sugar. I like the
pineapple flavored coconut water).
With life as busy as it is for everyone, it is important not to forget
to take care of ourselves. So remember to take your vitamins, stay
hydrated and get enough sleep. By doing these things you will give
your body the best chance to stay healthy and be ready for the next few
weeks. It is no fun being out of commission completely for a few days.
So instead of ALWAYS reaching for the caffeinated and sugary drinks,
grab something to keep your body hydrated and healthy.
Have a fun and fit day, Chicago. Let me know if I can help you in any way. :)
