This year Nike has created an amazing line of merchandise in honor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Many of these products are specifically designed for the individuals running in the race (and of course runners in general). Yet, this year's merchandise is so creatively designed that it can be worn by anyone in Chicago. I have expressed my love for this city numerous times before, and I am definitely going to purchase some of the marathon apparel. I think you will fall in love with it as much as I have.
When meeting with Cindy, the NIKE PR rep for Chicago, she explained that this year's Chicago Marathon theme was built around, "the race's unique spirit and storied course that winds its way through the city's neighborhoods and past iconic landmarks". The signature tee(featured on the left, women's $28) exemplifies exactly this.
All of the merchandise features our unique neighborhoods, our famous El, Chicago food (hotdogs),the city's flag, our beautiful sky line and some of our favorite landmarks. Landmarks including the Bean, Water Tower and Willis Tower.
This year's items are full of traditional colors, red, white and light blue, just like our Chicago Flag. Yet, Nike has also made some in bright pink, melon and oranges to catch people's eye.
Some of the shirts even have a retro flair to them. Like this Dry-Fit Cotton t-shirt. The dry-fit cotton t-shirt gives you the comfort of your cotton tees with the ability to wick away sweat at the same time. Who doesn't love soft comfy shirts that keep you dry? This specific shirt is sold for $28.
If you're in need of something to keep you a little warmer, pick up on of the Chicago Marathon Hoodies.
There is truly something for everyone. The reason I am so in love with this year's designs is because each piece really tells you about Chicago. Its not all the time that one item demonstrates exactly what this city has to offer. I feel that many of these pieces do exactly that.
I am also extremely proud that Chicago hosts such an awesome fitness event. I am so proud of everyone, (especially my friends Catherine Roock and Amy Marie) who have worked so hard to reach their goal of running this marathon. I am proud to show my support of our city and all the marathoners this weekend. I will definitely be sportin my marathon gear.
Have a fun and fit day, Chicago. Get ready for this weekend.
