CMA Awards and fashion
Wednesday's Country Music Association Awards brought the live country singing debut of Gwyneth Paltrow, who's starring in "Country Strong." The night's big honorees included Miranda Lambert, who took home honors for female vocalist and album of the year, and Brad Paisley as entertainer of the year. Here are RedEye's votes for red-carpet standouts--and misses.

Two classy tuxes bookending a reddish-pink geyser. We like the combination, especially because of the soft waves on top of Hillary Scott’s dress.
Kimberly Williams! We remember you from "Father of the Bride"! When did you sneak of and marry Brad Paisley? Your dress isn't terrible, either. Sheryl Crow, on the other hand, you need to step it up.
When one is considering wearing a dress of this nature, one must stand in front of the mirror and practice all possible poses one could be photographed in. Deborah Allen clearly did not do this.
Wednesday also marked the debut of Paltrow in a terrifying ombré concoction. With sparkles. And a side cutout that looked like the designer’s scissors slipped. This just wasn’t her rodeo.
Oh Katherine. This is not your night. Now please take your scary hair and go away. Your husband can stay.
Representing the saloon girl and innocent pixie bride of the old West.
We counted at least four ladies rocking flashy gold numbers Wednesday night, but former “American Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler won the award for enthusiasm in a long, low-cut number.
Keith looks properly country. Nicole's shoes are cute, but we'd like to see her eat about 12 sandwiches and then come talk to us.
No. Just no.
Leighton, what are you doing here? And more importantly, what is that dress doing here?
Black-on-black is always a great Johnny Cash move, and Carolyn does something a little out of the country ordinary with a red goddess look. Great call.
Martina looks fabulous at 44, but her dress looks horrible for its age, which we assume is much younger. Take a cue from Taylor Swift, who's dressed appropriately for ANY age.
Magenta! Miranda looks fabulous with big earrings to boot. Blake's shoes look a bit too much like sneakers, but otherwise spot-on.
You can expect to see Trixies down at…wherever it is the Trixies go on a Saturday night…in this dress, but not on an awards-show carpet.
Look at those smiles! These two are adorable. Her hair is slightly questionable, but the dress and eyeshadow make up for it.
She's generally sweet, but Carrie's gigantic layers make her look like the featherduster from "Beauty and the Beast" forgot to shake off the soot before heading out for the evening.
Rory Lee Feek’s getup very well may be the first time we’ve seen overalls and plaid together on the red carpet. But they’re a cute couple, so have at it!
Country’s sweetheart keeps it classy but adds a pop of WOW with a gorgeously draped red gown. Adult crooners, please take note.
