About
Hey readers, my name is
Mohammad Sagha. I'm a freshman (soon to be sophomore) at DePaul
University in Chicago majoring in Economics and Political
Science and minoring in Mathematics. I was born and raised here in the states;
my parents immigrated to the United States
in the mid-80's from Iran ,
which makes me, for all intensive purposes, an "Iranian-American."
This summer I will be traveling to Iran to visit family, delve into
Iranian culture, conduct a research project on the upcoming Iranian
presidential elections, and, of course, provide a blog for any interested
readers. While I have visited Iran
several years ago, this experience will be very different now that I am older
and have a better sense of my surroundings. I hope to provide a genuine
perspective rooted in a nuanced understanding of Iran , its culture, its history, and
its politics. In Chicago and across the U.S. , we often hear a lot about Iran , but it
seems to be centered around an idea of a fiercely fundamentalist Iranian
government and a deluded president. In reality, Iran is neither of those things.
This blog will look at Iran
as the Iranians do. Well, at least as the Iranian-Americans do.
