What's it worth? A tiny, 19-century portrait

Our reader Mary inquired about this lovely little portrait.  According to our Fine Art specialist, 19th century portrait paintings are abundant on the current auction market.  While this is a nice example of a young woman in profile, the artist has never been offered at auction before.  The two most important questions in appraising portraiture are the identity of the sitter and the identity of the artist.  In this case, the painting depicts a young woman but without a specific attribution and was painted by a relatively obscure artist.  This work would be estimated at $100/200 at auction.
