Everyone is familiar with American Idol, but have you heard of Equality Idol?

Equality Idol is a contest sponosored by the organizers of the National Equality March set to descend on Washington October 11.  Recently they put out a call for video submissions asking the LGBT why it is important for us to "March on Washington" and from the multitude of submissions they narrowed it down to 5 finalist.

Not only will the winner of the contest have an opportunity to address all of the delegates at the March on October 11th, but they'll also receive airfare and hotel accomodations!

One of the finalists is Chicagoan Jerry Pritikin, an LGBT activist and prolific photographer who was in San Francisco in the 70's and captured many iconic photos of the time, including many of Harvey Milk.  Check out Jerry's video below.

To vote goto the National Equality March YouTube Page and give 5 stars to your favorite video, you can also vote by going to the National Equality March Facebook page and give a "thumbs up" to your favorite video.  The person with the highest number of positive ratings will be the winner!

Voting ends at 5:00PM September 27, so Chicago - do what you do best - Vote Early - Vote Often!
