Doric Wilson, playwright of A Perfect Relationship, which is currently being produced by The PEOPLE*S Theater of Chicago and Midtangent Productions and being appearing on stage at the Leather Archives & Museum, will hold a Q&A session after each performance this week in celebration of Pride!
Doric was the first resident playwright at NYC's legendary Caffe Cino, his comedy And He Made A Her, opening there in 1961. The success of his play helped, in the words of playwright Robert Patrick, "establish the Cino as a venue for new plays, and materially contributed to the then-emerging concept of off-off Broadway."
A participant in all three nights of the Stonewall Riots (1969) he became active in the early days of the Gay Liberation movement. 1974, He formed TOSOS, the first professional theatre company to deal openly and honestly with the gay experience. TOSOS and his play The West Street Gang are featured in "Perform," the permanent exhibit on theatre at The Museum of New York City.
A Perfect Relationship, starring Thad Anzur, Alex Polcyn and others is a comedy set in 1980 about two men living together during the height of the the LGBT Liberation Movement in the gay ghetto, a handsome trick and overly amorous landlady.
