Earlier this year, my favorite parenting magazine Wondertime also went under -- leaving Cookie as really the only monthly parenting publication that offered a modern, fresh take on all things kid and baby.

Cookie was always a little bit too "high end" for me with its focus on nursery decor and designer clothes for kids. But the magazine and website also featured excellent writing and most importantly, a fresh take on many of the standard parenting themes and issues that just appear over and over again in these types of magazines.

This latest development makes me wonder if there is going to be such a thing as a parenting magazine post-recession. Are popular sites like Babble going to replace actual magazines? Are modern parents simply going elsewhere for their parenting news and advice?

For those (like me) who do like to flip through an actual magazine from time to time, the exit of Cookie means that the pickings in the parenting department are now very slim indeed.
