Feed your face this Thanksgiving

I look forward to enjoying a slice of pumpkin pie with a big scoop of Cool Whip on top after indulging in a Thanksgiving feast. It seems we just got rid of our pumpkin jack-o-lanterns from Halloween, and now we're having it for dessert..  It's the pumpkin season,  But a few days ago I discovered yet another way to use that pumpkin. And this one was surprising.
Pumpkin is a healthy food to eat, with its high concentration of vitamin A, vitamin C and zinc. I found out that it's also good for your skin topically.
Chicago's boutique fitness center and spa Exhale announced the debut of this year's seasonal skincare therapy, the pumpkin enzyme peel. I figured with all the hours I've spent planning our Thanksgiving menu, shopping, and getting ready for the holiday,  this was just what I needed to get myself into the holiday spirit (not to mention getting an hour to myself!). I was imagining that they would use the orange goop I usually scoop out of the pumpkin while carving them with our kids but when it was applied to my face, I was pleasantly surprised at how the smooth, cool concoction made my face feel rejuvenated.

Pumpkin enzyme peel at Exhale

The sweet aroma of pumpkin was immediately very calming.  And when Exhale's Esthetician Lindsey Blondin explained the benefits, I realized I may never look at a pumpkin the same way again. "This gentle peel naturally digests and exfoliates dead skin cells and impurities as it delivers pumpkin's botanical repair benefits into the skin", said Blondin.  "The enzymes help to eliminate dryness and leave the skin with long-lasting, revitalizing glow." The pumpkin enzyme peel is available at a discounted price of just $50 as an add on to the TRUE 60 minute facial at Exhale until December 31st.

If you feel like trying this at home all you need are a couple of tablespoons of pureed pumpkin, either cooked or fresh from a can (make sure to buy a can of 'pure' pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix). Add a touch of honey and a dab of milk, apply to face for fifteen minutes while you relax, then wash off and enjoy your glow! The best part is you can feed your face without adding anything to your svelte figure.
