Three years ago I was in Vancouver with my family to visit some extended family in Burnaby when I found out that the city was to be the host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
"Dad, we should come back here in 2010 to see some events!" I remember exclaiming as the realization that it may be plausible set in. I have been in love with the Olympics ever since I was a little girl, attending the games would fulfill a life long dream.
As the years went on, the idea stayed just that. An idea.
Until September 2009 came along and changed everything. Suddenly I found myself looking through my pictures from my 2007 trip and found an amazing picture:
Mary Jo in front of the Olympic countdown clock. A good omen?
Me. Even though you can't really even see me. In front of the Olympic countdown clock in downtown Vancouver, 874 days before the games.
So here we are now, three days away from leaving for Vancouver and a week away from the Opening Ceremonies. I can't help but believe that this was meant to be, how else does one explain the irony?
