Freelance journalist who will be attending the 2010 Winter Olympic Games to intern for the United States Olympic Committee!

I have been covering long track speedskating on and off for the duration of the Olympic Games here in Vancouver.

So yesterday when I went to Richmond Olympic Oval to grab some quotes from the Americans competing in the Men's 10000 m race I was expecting it to be business as usual.

Boy, was I wrong! Ryan Bedford from Yuma, Arizona got onto the ice with the most prominent display of USA pride I have seen at these Games.

Bedford talked about his new look with the media after his race. May I mention that he received a ton of press coverage because of the ingenious idea.

"My good friend Chad Hedrick and I, we were  joking around last week about 'hey, let's do something crazy for your race. You have got one shot, this is your only race at the Olympics so let's do something crazy you know,'" said Bedford.

"So he came up with the idea of getting my head shaved," he continued. "We weren't really thinking it was going to turn out like this, but we kinda got with one of our friends and kind of went from there."
