Freelance journalist who will be attending the 2010 Winter Olympic Games to intern for the United States Olympic Committee!

It took a boy from Naperville to do what no American man has done in Olympic figure skating since 1988.

Last night I got to witness Evan Lysacek perform the routine of a lifetime, how ironic that he is from my hometown?

My night was spent following Chicago's second golden boy in a week (the other is Shani Davis) around the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.

He was solid throughout his performance and had the audience on their feet before the end of his program for the second time this week, the first being his short program on Wednesday.

He was calm and well versed during all of his interviews and credited coach Frank Carroll for his success.

Here is a super close up of him talking to the press after his victory:

Lysacek doesn't know where he will go from here. At his press conference this morning he mentioned a few charities that he neglected while he was in training that he would like to get involved with again.

Regardless of what he does, Chicago should be proud of his accomplishments!
