The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has officially named Patrick Sandusky as Chief Communications Officer in a press release, yesterday. If the name sounds slightly familiar, it's because he was the former Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid spokesperson.
Sandusky stepped into the position back in October 2009, however the USOC held off on the official announcement until yesterday. In a Chicago Sun-Times article 12 days after losing the bid to Rio, Sandusky explained his new position.
"My role will be to communicate how the USOC goes forward within the Olympic movement and important steps they take -- both within the international community and, most importantly, in preparing for the Olympic Games in Vancouver,"
Before helping with the now infamous bid attempt (RECAP: reaction in Daley Plaza from Red Eye below), Sandusky worked for public relations firm Hill & Knowlton. He also helped London secure the 2016 Summer Olympic games.
