Lesbians, we're a smart crew. We like to read, we like to talk about reading, and we like free. Tonight's Printers' Ball is a definite must for literary ladies. If you've never been, it's essentially a celebration of Chicago's print publications, like Another Chicago Magazine, ALARM, Stop Smiling, Playboy, Venus and so many more.

Where can I find that one lesbian magazine?
If you're like me, you are in denial that print will ever die. I'm a huge magazine fan and will spend my $10 on an international issue over a cup of coffee and a movie any day of the week (unless I've read them all for the month. It can happen!)
The problem is that lesbian magazines can feel few-far-between. If you count the ones published outside of the U.S., however, there are actually several you can get your hands on in Chicago. Here's where you can find what you're looking for:
DIVA: The UK monthly magazine recently underwent a redesign, but it did not lose any of its great editorial content. The editors are really in touch with their readers and are always up-to-date, which is something I always appreciate when it comes to other, uh, less timely magazines.
Find it at: Borders - Lakeview (2817 N. Clark St.)
GIRLS LIKE US: This quarterly out of Amsterdam has truly universal appeal. The photography and Q&As by and with modern queer women icons make every issue a must-keep. Too bad it only comes out four times a year.
Find it at: Quimby's (1854 W. North Ave.)
