For a new regular feature on The L-Blog, I'm going to be giving
the same questionnaire to different Chicago lesbians who you will know
from their businesses, parties, events, organizations or involvement in
the community. If you have any suggestions for someone who you'd like
to hear from, let me know!
Today: Meghan Galbraith of 8 Inch Betsy
Chi-Celesbian Questionnaire: Meghan Galbraith
My favorite queer-owned business in Chicago is... Early To Bed. Better
than Disneyland, Santa's workshop and a candy store combined. 5232 N.
Sheridan Rd.
When I have friends in from out of town, I definitely take them to...The beach, Kuma's Corner (2900 W. Belmont Ave.), a walk through Andersonville, the Long Room (1612 W. Irving Park Rd.), a rock show and Chances, if it's goin' on.
I feel most gay when... I'm in Lincoln Park and every woman makes it a point to avoid eye contact with me. Or maybe when I'm mowing the lawn in camo cargo cut-offs (leatherman in my pocket) and a dirty wifebeater sporting men's work boots after I fixed the leaky sink and replaced some drywall, ate some jerky (with a Pabst in my hand at all times) and opened a stuck jar of mayo. No wait -- I feel most gay when I am driving a U-Haul. Yeah, that's it.
If I were a Chicago neighborhood, I'd be... Ravenswood. It's just the perfect neighborhood. Wait, does that mean I think I'm perfect? Hm, sure, I'll take that compliment from me.
The best brunch-spot in the city is... Glenn's Diner on Montrose (1820 W. Montrose Ave.). The Gonzo comes with everything you could ever want and so much you want to share, (maybe). And excellent Bloody Marys.
8 Inch Betsy are playing tonight as part of The Flesh Hungry Dog Show at the Jackhammer (6406 N. Clark St.). Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and the show starts at 9 p.m. Also on the bill: The Cathy Santonies, Stage Door Johnnies and Super Happy Fun Time Burlesque.

Woah, her face is really red in this picture. She seems to be in pain.
