Conscious Shopping at Connect - 2nd Location!

This Friday, Connect is throwing a grand opening party for their 2nd location at 2130 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park. The existing Connect store in Wicker Park was spawned from the closing of a Nau showroom in 2008. Several smart minds got together and created a unique space that acts as a showroom for the Nau clothing line, a retail outlet for local and national sustainability-focused designers, and an event space. Of course, events are also sustainability-themed and are an avenue to give back to the community by offering a fundraising component.

The Nau line, their main focus, is based on smart sustainable design principles that include timeless colors and eco-friendly materials. One of my favorite things about them is that the clothes are designed for easy, low-impact care. They are meant to be washed in cold water and line-dried. No Iron. No dry cleaning. Who wouldn't love that?

The way you purchase it is pretty fantastic, too. The store only keeps 1 of every color in every size, to be tried on. You can purchase these items but you are offered a discount to accept delivery of your item a few days later, delivered by bicycle no less. This method of shipping has less of a carbon footprint than stocking the store with a large inventory and keeps costs down.

Local collections include Noon Solar, Wired Jewelry, Connect Organics, and Artless.

Other great green businesses participating in the party are: Bleeding Heart BakeryBlue Plate Catering, City Provisions, Goose Island, Great Lakes Brewing Co., Green Grocer, Steaz, and Veev.

Grand Opening Party
Friday, March 12th, 6-8pm
