The "you bought it, now wear it" challenge

So, as I mentioned here a few days ago, I have given myself a little style challenge. I've challenged myself -- for the next 30 days -- to get out of the style rut I'm in: to wear the things in my closet, to get a little creative and to stop wearing the same thing every day. I have pieces that I go to over and over and over again, but I also have a closet FILLED with clothes. There is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't be wearing all the things that I've spent my hard-earned cash on. So, I'm not promising that there will be no repeated items, but I'm going to do my best to wear those items with other things in my closet that haven't seen the light of day in years. And at the end of it all, maybe I'll have a little fire sale -- I mean, if I don't pull it out during this challenge, it's just taking up space in my closet. A little Spring cleaning, if you will.

Wish me luck! Feel free to comment -- I'd love to hear about your personal style challenges. Do you get in a rut? Do you tend to go back to an outfit over and over if you know it "works?" Do you have items in your closet that still have the tags on them? Arlene and I always say that you should buy the things you love and then wear them -- it's about time that I practice what I preach!

So, here we are: Day 1
This dress has long been one of my favorites. It's Alexander McQueen. Well, McQ by Alexander McQueen, but it has his signature all over it -- the boning especially is so him.  I used to wear it quite a bit (and I'm sure if you did a little surfing on Facebook, you'd find pictures of me in it), but haven't pulled it out all winter. It's so bright and cheery. I'm a big, big fan of anything with a full skirt and I love a dress -- nothing's easier! And I have to say that I always feel beautiful when I have this on. I'll miss Alexander McQueen so much...

Wow what a great start! Fabulous dress. I bet McQueen didn't show it with the tee underneath so you could wear it without too. But I bet he did send it down the catwalk with a little neckscarf to match the 50s vibe of the McQ line. Would you try one or would that be an accessory too far?

Thanks, Joanna! You do know you're the inspiration behind this whole thing, right??

And no, a neck scarf would certainly not be an accessory too far! In fact, once I read your comment, I threw one on =) (the life of a stylist -- ALL of my accessories are here at the studio!) Thanks for the suggestion!
