Anniversaries are bitter sweet
June used to be my favorite month. Between weddings, Father's Day, and family birthdays, the Weigels were always celebrating. But that all changed when my dad Tim Weigel died on Father's day nine years ago.
Chicago Broadcasting at its finest
I wrote on my Facebook Wall today about a talk I'm doing at the Wilmette Theatre with broadcasting legend Mary Ann Childers for my Wednesdays with Weigel series June 23rd. Within minutes, a Facebook friend sent me a link to several clips with Mary Ann and my dad anchoring the news back in the early 80's. I wanted to share this one from when the Cubs clinched in 1984. Jim Fry and Dallas Green seem plowed. Mike Adamle looks 18 years old. And you'll wanna watch it all the way to the end to see Joel Daly and Jay Levine getting beer spilled on them as they report the chaos.
The Hawks fans might be rowdy- but Cubs fans put them to shame.
Lingerie Football hits Chicago
Women will be taking another step backwards today when the Chicago Bliss kick off their season tonight at the Sears Center Arena. What would a "Bliss" be? A female lingerie football team. (And I thought prancing around on stage in a swimsuit and heels was bad?)
