White Sox Re-Sign Ramon Castro
For anyone wondering if Tyler Flowers was going to be the backup or in a platoon with AJ Pierzynski at catcher next season, the answer looks to be neither, as Ramon Castro was re-signed, according to Ken Rosenthal. The deal is for one year and worth $1 million.

Very good signing. I'm curious to see if this gives Kenny a little more leverage to listen to offers for Tyler Flowers.
I have it on good record that the Sox are sitting on a potential Adrian Gonzalez deal which would involve Flowers (as well as a couple of the Sox other top prospects).

Is this what the sox are offering and the Padres havent accepted it yet or the Sox sitting on this offer from the Padres and the Sox haven't decided to accept it? I would think if this is what the Padres would be willing to take for Adrian Gonzalez then Kenny should jump on it as soon as possible. It is clear Kenny, like always, is in win now mode with the additions of Peavy and Rios and all of the one year contracts they have signed. I don't think moving Konerko should be an issue since Gonzalez has such an affordable salary and Paulie would be gone next year and who knows they could put that money towards an extension. If they somehow pull this move off then I can put them in World Series discuss...right now I would say they are in division champs discussion and hope they are hot going into the playoffs.

This is reportedly a standing offer the Sox have from the Padres and as of now they haven't jumped at it.

I really like the potential guys like Flowers, Jordan Danks, possibly Viciedo and Hudson have and could be major contributors but Adrian Gonzalez could hit 50 homeruns at the Cell and that makes them a World Series team today. No guarantees any of those guys turn out to be anything. Remember the great Brian Anderson? He was once pretty untouchable now he can't even get a major league contract with the Royals. You never know what these guys are going to do. You do know what Adrian Gonzalez can do and thats why Kenny should jump on this. He is the biggest bargain in baseball salary wise so money should not be an issue. Plus if Kenny is worried about his minors system he will have two years to replenish via the draft and other possible trades. I say Kenny go all in and if we suck in 4 years because of it then oh well. I will worry about it then. Like he has always said the only World Series you can win is this years. If this really is a standing offer then I hope they don't leave it on the table long enough for the Red Sox to come in and take him.

Flowers and prospects for gonzalez and the deal would be pretty much done on the sox side. I have heard the pads are asking for flowers along with a young player on the sox(my best guess bacon, danks, or floyd) along with another high end prospect.

The offer I've heard that is one the table does not involve anyone currently on the 25 man roster. However that doesn't mean there aren't a couple open offers on the table.

None from the 25-man, huh? My question is: What are we waiting for? Don't get me wrong, I am a big PK fan, but the salary math alone on this deal is a no-brainer, not to mention the player upgrade in youth and career upside...If you're right on this, it could simply be a case of KW cold feet and fear of the fall out that could ensue...I still say go for it, and build PK a statue or something.

PK would slide to DH which wouldn't really be an issue. I wonder if the Sox hold-up is a combination of the money they'll be spending and the holes they will be opening up long-term within the organization.
I know they are very very high on Dan Hudson but I don't know if I don't trade for Gonzalez because of Hudson.
Of course there are other issues we might not be aware of. The deal I have heard talked about seems like a steap price but a worthy price for Adrian Gonzalez (even if he walks in 2 years).

Flowers and a combo of other prospects? Jump on it. Add another ML-er on top of Flowers? I say still, jump on it, even if it is a rotation guy. Heck, throw in the Danks brothers...AG in Sox pinstripes for 2 years minimum, and we have a legitimate contender.

Anyone here know if there is anything more on the Yuniesky Maya story? If this is one of our "flying under the radar deals"...this guy could slide right into a rotation spot vacated by a trade for AG. Thoughts? New dope?

I am a little disappointed they didn't go after Mike Redmond for the backup catcher spot but it's not worth getting into a twist.
Castro knows the Sox pitching staff and that's as important as anything. I thought Redmond would be a better fit but then again that's why I'm not employed by the White Sox.
As for potential trades, I will say this. The roster as it stands now will not be the same roster mid year. Guys will become available and Reinsdorf just said money will be available if it makes the team significantly better.
Regarding Flowers and Adrian Gonzalez: nothing would surprise me. KW will trade anyone to get the guy(s) he wants. But I do not read Ramon Castro's signing as Tyler Flowers suddently becoming trade bait. I think their plan all along was to have Tyler in AAA for at least 1/2 the season.

It's funny how one guy could totally change my opinion of a lineup (which right now makes me want to vomit) but that one guy is definitely Adrian Gonzalez. Oh, how beautiful he'd look in a Sox uni.
That being said, I don't buy this one bit. I think if the deal is out there for no major leaguers, Kenny is a complete fool (and going totally against his character) if he doesn't jump at it. I don't think Kenny's a fool, so I have to think there is more smoke than fire to this rumor.
