Jake Peavy's third start with the White Sox was a lot like his second. Both were Friday starts against the Detroit Tigers where Peavy went deep into the game, didn't allow a run and got the win.
Peavy Sticks it to Tigers
Last week the Sox beat the Tigers 2-0 in Chicago, tonight was an 8-0 beatdown
in a big game for the division leading Tigers. Peavy pitched 8
innings, struck out 5, walked 2 and allowed just 2 hits. That makes 15
scoreless against the Tigers this year. Oh my. Once the Tigers stop
freaking out about the Twins this last weekend, for better or worse,
they should probably start freaking out about having to face Peavy even
more next year.
The White Sox 2010 hype machine won't get rolling until fans get over the disappointment of 2009's second half. Maybe it will take General Manager Ken Williams' first offseason move to inspire the fan base, but with Peavy, Mark Buehrle, John Danks and Gavin Floyd the Sox will have four proven starters coming off good seasons (define good as ERA under 4). The last time the Sox had that? Following 2005. Hopefully the results will be better than 2006, but there is definitely reason to be excited for 2010.
For now, maybe the Sox can keep sticking it to the Tigers because after all, De-troit Sucks!
