Casting call: 'Brighton Beach' a 'Jersey Shore' for Russian-Americans

Does drinking vodka promote this kind of Situation? (MTV)
"Are you the Russian Snooki or The Situation?"
That's the first line of a casting shout-out for--you guessed it--a Russian-American version of MTV's "Jersey Shore" to be called "Brighton Beach."
And that's no Bolshevik. (Thanks Kyles Files for that line.)
The casting sheet goes on to say: "Are you a super outgoing and fun-loving Russian-American that sometimes sneaks kalbaska, pel'meni and vodka from the fridge? Can people hear the Euro/Techno/Russian music blasting from your car before they see you pull up? Do you attend birthday parties at Russian restaurants every weekend?"
One of the show's creators told me Thursday that they still are shopping the idea to various networks. But they're going ahead with casting calls, and on Friday are teaming with Chicago-based Russian social networking site Vueplanet for auditions in Northbrook:
When: 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday
Where: The Petergof, 577 Waukegan Road, Northbrook
Phone: 847-715-9440
Hopefuls must be outgoing, between the ages of 21 and 30, willing to spend one summer living in an all-expense paid digs in the New York City area, love attention and "be the opposite of camera-shy."
Hopefuls also can go online to apply at brightonbeachshow.com.
