BEYOND SHERWOOD FOREST 8 p.m. Saturday, Syfy
Tune in or out?

out of four.
"Sanctuary's" Robin Dunne plays Robin Hood in this mash-up of the classic tale with, well, a dragon story. Yep, the Merry Men and a staff-wielding Maid Marian (Erica Durance of "Smallville") fight to save the forest and villagers from a giant fire-breathing lizard.
"Sherwood Forest" has a ton of stars that sci-fi fans will recognize. Besides Durance, Dunne's "Sanctuary" co-star, Robert Lawrenson (who plays Declan McRae) stars briefly as Robin Hood's father. Julian Sands ("24," Smallville," etc) plays Malcolm, who has designs to become the Sheriff. David Richmond-Peck ("V") stars as Prince John.
With a cast like that and being on Syfy, it makes sense to add the obligitory dragon to the mix. And I've got no problem with supernatural tricks turning Hood on his head, but this movie needs a good injection of campiness to make it more interesting.
We already have an earnest "Robin Hood" airing on BBC America.
