'Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars' gets December air date
Do you hear the clock ticking for David Tennant? The actor we've come to love as Doctor Who is running out of time in the role: BBC America will air the third-to-last of his appearances as the Time Lord, "Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars," at 8 p.m. Dec. 19.
In the special, Tennant's good Doctor gets help from a new companion, Adelaide (Lindsay Duncan), who runs a base on Mars where people are being attacked by something that is hiding in water and creating water that apparently zombifies its victims.
It looks pretty outstanding, don't you think?
Tennant's finale as Doctor Who, a two-parter called "The End of Time," will air over the holiday season, BBC America announced. "Doctor Who" aired with different actors in the lead role from 1963-89. It reappeared briefly in 1996, then was relaunched in 2005 by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner. Tennant took over the role from Christopher Eccleston's one season and has been the Doctor ever since.
Tennant, Davies and Gardner talked about the end of this latest Who era at San Diego Comic Con.
Next year, Matt Smith will take over the role with a whole new team of producers and writers behind him.
