'Doctor Who: The End of Time' coming in Dec., Jan.

David Tennant will be missed as the Tenth Doctor Who. As you can see in the clips here, he delivers the perfect blend of humor and gravitas in the role.

BBC America announced Friday that Tennant's final two appearances as the Time Lord will air on the network beginning at 8 p.m. Dec. 26 with "Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One." UPDATE: The finale, "Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part Two," will air at 7 p.m. Jan. 2. As I previously reported, the next special, "Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars," premieres ay 8 p.m. Dec. 19

I don't know a lot about the finale, but as you can see, the Master (John Simm) is back, and that usually spells disaster. Guest stars in the final specials include Simm, Timothy Dalton, Catherine Tate, Lindsay Duncan and Bernard Cribbins.

Tennant is leaving the iconic role along with creator Russell T Davies, who joined the actor at Comic-Con in July. They're passing the franchise on to showrunner Steven Moffat and actor Matt Smith, who will play the Eleventh Doctor in a new season premiering in 2010 on BBC America.
