Puck and Rachel get hit with a Slushy during the "Mash-Up" episode of "Glee." Fox photo

In this week's "Glee," Puck (Mark Salling) surprises everyone when he serenades Rachel (Lea Michele) with his "personal tribute to a musical Jewish icon." We finally get to hear Salling, who told me during the Chicago stop of the Gleek Tour that he's been a guitarist and songwriter "all my life," perform his solo of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline," which he said was his favorite song to sing (see second video).

In "Mash-Up," airing at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Puck's performance heats up the love quadrangle of Rachel, Quinn, Finn and Puck. But it won't get too hot: Slushies will be thrown. Sorry Puck, that's the price of true love.(Did you hear Joss Whedon will direct a "Glee" episode?)

This week's episode also features performances of Young MC's "Bust A Move" and Sisqo's "Thong Song." In the episode, "Will (Matthew Morrison) draws inspiration from the students and composes a mash-up for a very special occasion. Meanwhile, in a shocking reversal of roles, McKinley High's cool kids are dethroned in an 'icy' fashion, and Sue (Jane Lynch) shows off her softer side."
