Neil Patrick Harris is following up his fantastic turn as the Tony Award host by sealing a deal to host the prime-time Emmys on Sept. 20, CBS confirmed Monday after rumors had been floating for some time.
"After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the prime-time Emmys," Harris told the AP.
The "How I Met Your Mother" star is eager to add his "own voice" to the ceremony, he said. "But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."
Harris cracked wise throughout the Tonys, rolling with events onstage, such as when Poison lead singer Bret Michaels was smacked by a set piece. "His number gave head-banging a whole new meaning."
He closed the show with a hilarious ode to the "gay" Tonys. It was written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, but I bet NPH had a hand in some of those lyrics.

I was admonished on Twitter today for admitting I'm not an NPH fan or all that familiar with his work. Maybe the Emmys will change that.

LOL. The Twitterverse can be so cruel. You can always catch up with NPH and become a fan. I suggest you start with "Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog." He's amazing in it. Thanks for commenting.
