Apparently not everyone in America is sick of “American Idol.” The Fox singing competition shot out of the box with its Tuesday premiere, attracting an estimated 30.1 million viewers.
Despite being the most-watched prime-time show of the TV season, “Idol’s” audience was down 10 percent from the 2008 premiere, which drew 33.4 million people.
Viewers who did tune in on Tuesday were treated to a stand-off between new judge Kara DioGuardi and tryout Katrina Darrell, who wore a revealing bikini to her audition.
Unlike male judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, DioGuardi and Paula Abdul weren’t struck by Katrina’s bikini, or her singing. When DioGuardi sang some of the song to show Katrina how it’s done, the sassy lass told her, “Your demonstration wasn’t any better.”
After some argument, Katrina was voted through to Hollywood. And now she’s ready for her 15 minutes of fame. She’s created a Web site with photos, an “Idol” video clip and links to news stories about her.
