David Tennant will be missed as the Tenth Doctor Who. As you can see in the clips here, he delivers the perfect blend of humor and gravitas in the role.
BBC America announced Friday that Tennant's final two appearances as the Time Lord will air on the network beginning at 8 p.m. Dec. 26 with "Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One." A date for the finale, "Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part Two," has yet to be announced. As I previously reported, the next special, "Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars," premieres ay 8 p.m. Dec. 19
Amanda Tapping adds yet another title to her "Sanctuary" credits with the latest episode of the Syfy thriller: Director.
Tapping, who stars as Dr. Helen Magnus and serves as executive producer with Damian Kindler and Martin Wood, took complete control of the production for "Veritas," which airs at 9 p.m. Nov. 20. And she loved the experience.
"It was great," she told me at the beginning of the season. "I am really proud of it. I'm really proud of the show. I think the performances are amazing, it's a great story by Alan McCullough."
(POSSIBLE SPOILERS: IF YOU WISH TO KNOW NOTHING BEFORE SEEING 'VERITAS," COME BACK AFTER WATCHING.)
An emotional Oprah Winfrey closed her Friday show by announcing the end of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
"After much prayer and months of careful thought, I have decided that next season, Season 25, will be the last season of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,'" she told her studio audience, some of whom gasped.
Winfrey went on to explain her decision, in order to stop speculation about why she is making the decision:
"I love this show. This show has been my life. And I love it enough to know when it's time to say good-bye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and right in spirit. It's the perfect number; the exact right time."
Winfrey didn't give any details about what she would be doing, or if Harpo Studios would stay in Chicago. She said that her final season would be worth watching.
"We are going to knock your socks off."
Below is the almost complete text of Winfrey's announcement. Way to go, O!
