Vaudezilla will perform
Rollin' Outta Here Naked at Gorilla Tango Theatre (1919 N Milwaukee). In addition to stripteases by your favorite Lebowski characters (even Walter!), the show will also have skits, a sing-a-long and $200 worth of prizes to give out to those who can answer trivia questions about the movie, plus swag bags for the first 60 people in the door each night.
The Big Lebowski, a Coen Brothers film about an unemployed stoner and devout bowler, has spawned nationwide festivals, an army of people who religiously recite its obscure quotes, references in
dating advice columns and now, an entire burlesque show dedicated to all things Dude.
Asked why
The Big Lebowski was ripe for a burlesque adaptation,
Red Hot Annie, one of Vaudezilla's founders and a performer in the show, (who also makes her own pasties) said, "There are a number of reasons why Vaudezilla picked
The Big Lebowski as our inspiration for a burlesque show. The first is that I'm personally a huge, huge fan of the movie. It's also perfect because there are a number of 'strange' characters that do strange enough things to make many of the scenes and acts funny."
With
Rollin' Outta Here Naked, the folks at Vaudezilla are
paying homage to the unsung heroes of counter culture with stylized,
absurdist bravado, which lovers of the movie will most certainly
appreciate.
If you haven't seen the movie however, this may not be the show for
you. As Red Hot Annie says: "The funniest parts of the show are the
in-jokes related to the movie. If you've seen the movie once, you'll
get most if not all of them. But if you haven't, you might be confused
about why all the people around you are laughing at simple costume
changes or body movements."
