The newest Harry Caray's Tavern opened its doors at 5am Monday--and the party didn't stop 'til after the last firework blasted off over Navy Pier. Many of the restaurant's celebrity investors, including Bobby Hull, Harold Ramis, James Denton, Richard Dent and Ernie Banks, were on hand to toast what would have been the 96th birthday of the beloved Cubs announcer.
The new space features some spectacular memorabilia, including a 1909 Cubs jersey--one of only four known jerseys from that year still in existence--and some of Ramis's costumes and props from Ghostbusters. The back patio sits on the boardwalk, overlooking the lake, and should be a hot spot for sports fans when the weather turns.
Unfortunately my camera is on the fritz, so I only have a few pictures of my own to share. The rest are courtesy of the Facebook page for Harry Caray's Tavern on Navy Pier.
