No. 12 Cornell routed No. 4 Wisconsin 87-69 in the second round of the NCAA tournament Sunday afternoon. Louis Dale (26 points), Ryan Wittman (24 points) and Jeff Foote (12 points, 7 boards) led the Big Red, while Jon Leuer (23 points) and Jason Bohannon (18 points) excelled in the Badgers' losing effort.

The Ivy League champions led from start to finish Sunday, shooting 61% from the field and 53% from beyond the arc. Temple and Wisconsin boasted two of the country's best defenses, but neither could shut down the Big Red's accurate, methodical offense. Before Sunday's game, Wisconsin had allowed more than 70 points only three times this season, and two of those games went into overtime. The Badgers allowed Cornell to put up 43 points in the first half--just six fewer than their first-round opponent, Wofford, had all game.

Cornell's prize for pulling off another huge upset? They get to face the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats next Thursday in the Sweet Sixteen. The good news is that the game will be played in Syracuse, less than an hour from Cornell's campus. The bad news is that the Cats advanced on Saturday, so Cornell fans will have to hope the KU faithful didn't scoop up all the tickets.

The Kentucky basketball program boasts seven NCAA titles, while Cornell has two just NCAA wins (that's games!) Kentucky is the kind of school the movie "Blue Chip" was based on, while Ivy League programs like Cornell aren't even allowed to offer athletic scholarships. You want a David v. Goliath story, you got it.

Cornell is the first Ivy League team to make the round of sixteen in over 30 years and the lowest-seeded team remaining in the tournament. For now, they'll head back to campus as kings and begin prep for the biggest basketball game in school history.
