The Victoria's Secret website has declared Patrick Sharp the winner, but the Bulls' website is announcing Derrick Rose as the victor.

Considering the extremely aggressive marketing push made by the Hawks to make Sharp the winner (a widely distributed BlackhawksTV video, countless Twitter announcements, mentions during several game broadcasts) fans everywhere are surprised to see Rose get the win.

Trib writer Luis Arroyave, who seems to have had the inside scoop all along, wrote of the website "error": "UPDATE: For those of you wondering why Derrick Rose won over Patrick Sharp, I'm told 'The IT dept. had a glitch in the system and the votes kept going after the deadline and that is how the discrepancy happened, but Derrick is the official winner as the voting closed."

According to commenters on Arroyave's post, Sharp was ahead by over 2,000 votes when the voting ended at midnight. And commenter "Chitown" notes another fishy fact: Some voters couldn't even access the site on the last day. "...speaking of crazy random happenstances, how about the fact that people who tried to access the VS site to vote on the last day of voting found this instead? http://twitpic.com/qwrkm"  What are the chances "Melbourne IT" put a freeze on the voting as they tried to alter the results?

Coincidentally, Rose was the only nominated athlete invited to make an appearance at the Grand Opening of the Victoria's Secret store on Michigan Avenue. Rose and the Bulls (winners of Sexiest Team) were also the only ones who received a visit from Angel Marisa Miller when the nominees were announced. That means VS already had publicity photos of the two together and footage from a press conference with Miller at the Bulls' facility ready and waiting for the announcement.

Another coincidence? According to the Bulls' site, "Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio will present Bulls guard Derrick Rose with his 'Chicago's Sexiest Athlete' award tonight at 8:30 p.m. at an event celebrating the winners of their 'What's Sexy Now Chicago' campaign." Sharp has a game tonight and wouldn't be able to attend the event even if he had won.

Oh yeah, and tonight's honors will be presented at Undergound, the winner for "Sexiest Bar/Club." It's owned by ChicagoNow blogger Billy Dec, who also owns Sunda, the winner for "Sexiest Restaurant." The choice of location for tonight's event, to be paired with a "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" viewing party, was totally unrelated to the voting, of course.

I think I know Victoria's "Secret," and it's that they suck at rigging polls and are faily at fixing (already fixed) results on their website so people don't find out. As NSNG reader and Twitter user "buffettphan23" wrote: "Thats the last time I throw their product on my bedroom floor."

UPDATE: Despite still being unable to change the results page to show Derrick Rose as the winner (web design fail, much?) Victoria's Secret has posted the following release, featuring a brand new voting deadline. Too bad all reports indicate that Sharp was ahead at 11pm, too. FAIL. FAIL. You picked the wrong city for this, VS. "Passionate fans" doesn't even begin to cut it:

Sharpie was clearly ahead when the voting ended at Midnight. However, if you look at the VSChicago site right now, they are saying the voting ended at 11pm CST. WRONG, the site originally said midnight as did all the Blackhawks blasts and promos. They will probably try to say they meant CST, but why would you post a time on a Chicago site that wasn't in CST? Bottom line, Sharpie got robbed, disgusting!

That is so messed up. Pippencat, you're right the voting was supposed to end at 12pm, not 11. Rose was barely ahead at 11, but then Sharpie ran away with the votes. Based on all the information posted here, it looks like VS only wanted Rose, and had to shut it down when he was ahead. And I agree, disgusting.

Sharpie will always be the sexiest athlete winner in my (and most of the voting public's) eyes. Derrick Rose? Come on. Total joke.

Fixed for sure. I attempted to vote numerous times (for Sharpie) between 11:30 and 12:00 CST and wasn't allowed. Therefore, even if the deadline was at 11:00 people couldn't sneak extra votes in. Why bother having a contest if the results are pre-planned. Yes, the Chicago station did say till midnight.
