The last drop of sand has fallen in the hourglass of the NBA trade deadline, and the 38-17 Chicago Bulls decided to stand pat.  With rumored deals involving names from Houston's Courtney Lee to Memphis' OJ Mayo, the Chicago Bulls who are in need of more offense from the shooting guard position choose that team chemistry is more important than an improvement on the offensive end of the ball.

Without a doubt, the Chicago Bulls are the most surprising team in the Eastern Conference.  After an off season where they decided to use the money they freed up for the likes of LeBron James and built a team with it, Gar Forman and John Paxson once again make the right moves...this time by doing nothing.  The Chicago Bulls are already one of the best teams in the NBA on the defensive side of the ball.  Adding another new body to a team whose best three players have only played eleven games together would totally destroy any chances of the starting five having any on the court chemistry before the playoffs arrive.

It is easy to look at a stat sheet and say the Bulls need an upgrade at the two guard position because of the lack of production from that position.  However what some people seem to forget is the surprising increase in production you have gotten from MVP candidate Derrick Rose and Luol Deng this season.  Rose already this season is averaging five more points per game, and Deng has also played above his career averages.  With the off season addition of Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah back in the lineup following a hand injury, the Chicago Bulls at full strength are good enough to do some damage in the postseason.

I am happy to see that Gar Forman and John Paxson believe in the notion that if it is not broke, do not fix it.  Although I believe the Chicago Bulls road woes will catch up with them in the postseason and they could indeed be a one and done team, this Bulls team needs time to gel like the front office wanted it to from day one.  The problem is because of injury, they have yet to have that chance.  I like the idea of the front office sticking to their guns that if the Bulls are this good without the services of their own "big three", how good could they be when they actually do get the chance to gel as a unit.

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone, and the Chicago Bulls got better by doing nothing.  It will be a fun ride to the playoffs.
