1000 W. Washington: Showing of the week

user-pic

Let me start off by saying, I attempted to attend TWO other open houses this week, but could not find the entrance or a number to call to get in... I'm wondering if the Realtors just bounced because it was such a nice weekend.

In  the end, though, I'm happy I got the chance  to see the one-bedroom unit at 1000 W. Washington. The 1,700 square foot loft was much different from many north side properties I've seen and offered a lot of open space, and perhaps even the possibility for a second bedroom.

As is somewhat visible in this picture, the unit has two levels separated by three steps- the kitchen and dining area are sunk in while the bedroom, bathroom and two sitting areas are on top. There's very few walls in the space, so you feel like it's huge. All the hardwood flooring and exposed brick give the place a unique, artsy feel without being too stark.

The bedroom is separated from the living space only by a curtain, but has a large closet, with a second clost just on the other side of the bathroom. The bathroom is accessible through both the bedroom and the kitchen, making it comfortable for guest as well as the main resident.

I liked the finishes and the natural light coming into the kitchen.  The $340,000 price tag on the unit seems fair, with taxes at just over $3,000 and an indoor heated parking space available for an exra $35,000. The unit is being marketed by Marnie Sax of Prudential Rubloff and is one of 167 unique units in the building.

I occasionally try going to public open houses and I am amazed at how often they don't materialize as advertised. What a great way to enhance the public's perception of realtors.

I've looked at a unit in this building before. There are some good values there. If I'm not mistaken the floor plans are all pretty much unique. The unit you discuss here is very different than the one I saw.
