Li Wright wrote to the CTA and cced "Going Public" with the hope that the CTA will change its rules regarding strollers in the wake of the incident on the Red Line.
"Maybe, just maybe, CTA will look at its policy concerning baby strollers on the buses and trains.
I've seen near catastrophes because the mom (or dad) wouldn't fold the stroller and carry the baby. Babies are tough. They can take the warm embrace of a parent's arms, but time and again, I see these lazy women keep the baby in the stroller, push the stroller down the aisle or block the aisles in public transportation.
I've seen passengers almost trip and fall trying to get over the strollers, and some of these strollers are huge."

I agree. The aisles really aren't wide enough to accommodate a stroller and allow people to pass by easily. If the CTA won't ban them, they should at least allow ONLY ONE stroller per bus.

I don't see how the CTA would be able to ban strollers. It would be discriminating against parents who may need to travel with strollers, like moms with 3 kids and no car.

I agree it should be ban period cause strollers are a hazard on buses and trains and most of the time when the operators ask the mother to fold the stroller they refuse and blocks the aisles occupy seating and standing room for people with disabilities and seniors that need to sit or walk down the aisles to board or leave the bus, i also seen people carts with furniture and large appliances enter the buses these thing should not be allow buses and trains are people mover not a uhaul and if a parent can't carry a child(s) in their arm the they should catch a cab. It need to be a little more respect for the purpose buses and trains even for very ignorant people that just don't give a care

Wooddroe it's not legal to put a baby or kid in a cab without a car seat. The baby is much safer in a stroller with straps that someones arms. CTA is the only option for a lot of moms and dads.
Read the CTA website. They are designing the new trains so there is space for strollers and big luggage. Not trying to ban babies on the CTA. 'Babies are tough.' No, a baby is helpless.
You guys are talking about a person who can't walk, talk, or understand anything. I would call those disabilities or impairments. I’m sure those babies will learn but until then I’ll give the 2 month old and her mom my seat! Yeah, they have a care taker but so do some adult disabled people. The baby needs wheels to get around just as much as any disabled person needs a wheel chair. I agree that there should be a compromise. The strollers should be smaller. It’s just good advice to stay off the CTA with a baby during rush hour, for safety. So I think that’s a good comprise too!
If you can walk, talk, and have a rational thought then offer up your seat to those who are not as blessed as you. Also, it's 'public' transportation. That means big, small, people that smell, people that talk to loud, people who are obese, people with short noses, ect … If your offended by any one of these groups of people then the CTA isn’t for you. Tracy you sound crazy intolerant of others.
