Meet your new Chicago Transit Board

user-pic
This morning's Chicago Transit Board meeting looked different than most meeting days, and not just because of the band playing outside CTA headquarters and the large police presence.

There's been some reshuffling on the transit board, so "Going Public" decided to take a look at who's who on the transit board (after the jump).

The board is composed of seven members, who are appointed for seven-year terms. Three members are appointed by the governor and four members are appointed by the mayor. Gov. Quinn announced two appointments on Wednesday.
The following information is from the State of Illinois Web site, CTA press releases and news reports:

Peterson is the vice president of Government Affairs at Rush University Medical Center, "where he is responsible for managing, evaluating and executing strategic initiatives related to the hospital on the local, state and federal levels," according to the CTA. He succeeded former chairwoman Carole L. Brown, who stepped down in September after six years as head of the board.

What is happening with the C.T.A. selling carbon offsets? They were supposedly taking steps to explore this idea,in a past column. With constant budget problems, this should be something they want to pursue, even if it only brings in a small amount of money.
