How many murders has North Lawndale seen?

North Lawndale saw two homicides Sunday, bringing its homicide toll for the year to 18 victims.

On Sunday, a 16-year-old male was shot to death in the 1500 block of South Christiana Avenue and a 41-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 1900 block of South Trumbull Avenue, according to police information.

This year, there have been 16 shooting deaths and two stabbing deaths in North Lawndale, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. Sixteen of the victims were male, two were female; all were black.

Citywide, 17 homicides have been recorded so far this month. Police logged 38 murders in November 2008.
