Feeling the holiday spirit with CTA gifts

user-pic
Love it or hate it, public transit is here to stay.
It's been a topsy-turvy year for the CTA.
There's a new boss and no fare hikes (for a while)
But add in bus cuts and worker layoffs and gone is that smile.
To help you remember what fun it is to ride,
"Going Public" presents this CTA gift guide.
For the woman who wants to look her best lest she meets an investment banker on the Red Line ... A CTA cosmetics case.
This colorful PVC-vinyl case, covered in "L" station names, is $11.95. Available at ctagifts.com. Pickup lines not included.
.
For the man who could use some direction ... a CTA shower curtain.
The entire rail system is portrayed on this biodegradable shower curtain, which is a hot seller. Available at ctagifts.com for $29.
.
For the baby who loves to go for a ride ... An "L" track bib
This bib features a black-and-white photo of curved tracks at an "L" station. Better to spit up on this station, than its real-life counterpart. Available at cafepress.com for $10.
.
For all CTA riders ... Hand sanitizer, the gift that keeps on giving.

Tins-'L'

The CTA holiday train is back! The Christmas-centric train debuted last weekend on the Red and Purple Lines. This week, the train will be on the Pink and Blue Lines and in the Loop. The full schedule is available at transitchicago.com. Spot the holiday train? Submit your photos and sightings to tswartz@tribune.com. Photos will be used for a gallery at redeyechicago.com/goingpublic.

O Holy Lite

Another reason to love Saturday nights: Miller Lite is offering free rides on double-decker buses Saturday nights through Dec. 26. The buses stop in the Loop and at North Side bars and CTA stations.

Route and schedule information is available by calling 1-800-FREE-RIDES (1-800-373-3743), by texting "RIDE" to 44636 or by visiting millerlitefreerides.com.

Just want to point out I am the proud owner of the shower curtain listed above. Got it for Christmas last year. It's pretty awesome.
