Hear that rumbling beneath your feet? It's the sound of local female rappers just below the surface, striving to break through in a male-dominated industry. MCs including Psalm One, Amina and Ang13 still reign, but RedEye caught up with some other lyrical ladies for your rap radar.

Its good to see females getting more exposure in hip hop, because of their lyrical content, and overall talent as opposed to being half naked and having to go the "lil kim" route to get noticed. I hope to hear more from them

Great article! It's good to highlight all of our Chicago artists, especially the ladies! I also like that three out of the five have performed at my venue, Elastic...lets make it five out of five...at the same event...and add Amina and Ang13!! Whoa!

Hip hop needs more ladies who can bring the rhymes and say something that's just as good, if not better than, the boys. It's time to see Chicago's female emcees rise up, too!
