Brian Owen wrote to "Going Public" with a question about the work at Belmont and Fullerton. The CTA response is below.
"World War II last not quite four years. The CTA has been working on the train platforms at Belmont and Fullerton for about the same length of time and they still look like they have a long way to go. In fact, it looks like nothing is being done."
The CTA responded: "The work at Belmont and Fullerton associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project is on time and on budget. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
Unlike some of the other stations in the project that temporarily closed during construction, Belmont and Fullerton have remained open. As a result the CTA closes parts of the station and completes work at times when ridership is lower, like nights and weekends. In addition, certain finishing touches will not be added until construction is near completion."

Odd ... I think it looks like a ton is being done. Every week there's major progress at Belmont, like new canopy extensions suddenly popping up, new art being installed, and the historic station recently got glass in its windows, so it must be near complete.

Yeah ... sounds to me like Brian Owen is a bit of a whiner. When we moved here in 2007, the old Belmont station, with the rusting stairs, warped canopies and leaking roof was just beginning to be dismantled. The new platform is clean, sturdy and nice looking, and it looks like the station house will be open, bright and well-designed.

Why have the Fullerton exits not opened yet. It is kind of chaotic having people leaving the station through the entrances.
