UPDATE: Thank you for making the event a success. Check out all the photos you sent us in our
photo gallery.Are you ready for a serious PARTY?
I am. We are. The only thing that could possibly make The Great @redeyechicago Outdoor Tweetup this Thursday (09.24.09) even better is if you attend.
Arrive at 11 a.m. and get settled with a nametag and hopefully a T-shirt (
see here) and then enjoy entertainment starting at 11:30. It all happens in Pioneer Court (that courtyard immediately south of the Tribune Tower at 435 N. Michigan Ave.).
Click through for the rest of the exciting details.
We'll do this tweetup RedEye-style. We're doing it big and bold, outdoors. The entertainment continues until 1:30. But the memories, well, we hope they'll last a lifetime.
But this is not an ordinary tweetup. Oh, no, no, no.
* There will be giant TV screens with live-tweeting going on.
* There will be trivia that you can play by tweeting in your answers. (Scroll down for more info.)
* There will be food and drink.
* There will be T-shirts. (Hint: They look sooooo great! - Scroll down for more info.)
And if you didn't get to meet him when he was recreating Ferris Bueller's Day Off a few Saturdays ago, you'll have another chance. @redeyechicago's social media intern
Ernest Wilkins will be our MC at the mic.
Oh, and did I mention there's music from I Fight Dragons and Matt Ryd? I didn't? My bad. Yep, they'll be there rocking the tweet-up.
Now to make this day perfect, there are a few things we'd like to ask of you. All fun, I promise.
Your arrival and your T-shirt
The music doesn't start until 11:30, but we hope you'll join us starting at 11 to get situated and grab a T-shirt. You need to print out a coupon - or show it on your phone - in order to get one. Click
here for the coupon. Everyone will be congregating next to the Tribune Tower in the courtyard we call Pioneer Court.
Put on your nametag ...
What's a tweetup without a nametag, right? I'll have mine on. It will say @redeyechicago and @scottkleinberg and @iptib. So no matter how you know me, we can connect. I look forward to meeting you all.
... and meet the gang!
There will be other RedEye friends and Bloggerati for you to meet, including RedEye's Web editor Steph (you may know her as
@crushgear and
@redeyenow) and the always entertaining and charming
Kyra Kyles. Also stopping by will be Ana, who's behind our other social media project #50fests at
@redeyelivetweet.
The official tweetup hashtag is ...
#redeyewow - and we'd love it if you'd include it in every post about the tweetup - from now until after it's over. It's a great way for us to keep many tweets organized.
Trivia
Ernest will be asking the questions. To win, you need to tweet your answer. And yes, there will be prizes. To play, remember the official tweetup hashtag: #redeyewow.
We want YOUR pictures
There will be many opportunities for photos at the event, including a giant sign featuring the logo of the event. You may have seen it in our full page ads that have been running in RedEye. The idea is to sign it for prosperity and take photos in front of it. Then, twitpic or twitvid it and post it to Twitter. We are looking forward to showcasing your creativity on our
RedEye blog or even possibly in print. You can also
email your stuff to us.
Help us spread the word
Please pass along the details using our
Facebook invite. Also, retweet, repost - whatever you want. We're truly hoping that this is the coolest tweetup ever in Chicago. Thanks so much for your help and we're looking forward to seeing you Thursday.
