With Thanksgiving already next Thursday, I'm already thinking about all the food I'm going to be eating. So it's perfect that taking place this weekend is the FamilyFarmed Expo--three full days of local food, produce, farmers and information.
Starting Friday, the Expo at the Chicago Cultural Center, will focus on everything local--including a farmers market, demos and foods to sample. Plus, on Friday night, the Localicious party will feature dishes made from local goods, as well as drinks.
The daytime events on Friday mostly are focused at producers, farmers and trade buyers. But the public is welcome Friday-Sunday at the Expo. Tickets are $15 in advance through their Web site, or $20 at the door. The Localicious party tickets are separate: $50 in advance, $60 at the door.
Chefs with demos include Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill, Gale Gand from Tru and Lula Cafe's Jason Hammel.
And I can't wait for some of these workshops: "Fresh local food for all;" "Mixing up local flavors;" "Local organic eating on a dime;" and "Growing your own veggies." There are lots more too.
Plus, more than 100 vendors will be selling their goods if you're looking to stock up for Thanksgiving--or yourself.
I'm so excited I can hardly wait. There's nothing that makes me happier than food, information about food and samples of food!
