The White Sox throw the World Series - 1919
Eight White Sox players were indicted for allegedly fixing the 1919 World Series against Cincinnati. Though the players were acquitted after their 1920 trial, newly-installed baseball commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis banned them from playing baseball again. Shown here during their 1920 trial are, foreground, left to right Ed Cicotte, Joe Jackson and Claude Williams. (Tribune file photo).
