Winter Street Junk Invasion Has Begun

The Parking Ticket Geek

The Geek is an idiot, who gets a lot of parking tickets, and knows how to fight back.

Yup.

It's not really a surprise.

When nearly a foot of snow falls onto the pavement, it's just a matter of time before the plastic buckets, chairs, two by fours, orange cones and all matter of well...crap, migrate from the garage and onto neighborhood streets.

Lazy and intellectually challenged folks somehow think they're entitled to that parking spot they freed from the grip of that snow with their snow shovel.

Due to the prolific nature of this outbreak of street flotsam, my guess is there are probably people who think "dibs" or "place-saving" is permitted under the municipal code.

It is pretty amazing because of the lack of substantial snowfall this winter, we're already deep into February before the city saw a street junk epidemic.

Stay tuned for tips, tricks and rants on how to discourage your neighbors from littering the streets with their crap.

Of course, we invite YOUR thoughts on this subject, pro or con. What do you think?

GEEK EDITOR'S NOTE: Send us your street junk photos and we'll post them in a photo gallery or slide show. E-mail photos to: info@theexpiredmeter.com

If you shovel it out, you should get 1 week of parking.
If you don't shovel and just put a chair in a snow filled spot you need to be slapped.

Actually, I think it's lazy and fairness-challenged folks who think they're entitled to the spot SOMEONE ELSE labored an hour or more in the cold to free from snow. Wouldn't that qualify as either theft or slavery?

I do agree that it has to be a substantial snowfall. On my block, where people respect industriousness and therefore respect dibs, it hasn't happened yet this winter, because it hasn't been necessary.
