Lincoln Square Lots Closed For Resurfacing

The Geek is an idiot, who gets a lot of parking tickets, and knows how to fight back.

I was up in the lovely Lincoln Square neighborhood a few times over the past few days, and saw this sign taped to the front of the meter pay box.

According to the sign,LAZ has some planned resurfacing going on in the two lots up at Western & Lincoln Ave.

The lot at 2301 W. Leland was scheduled to be closed and worked on from October 12th until today, October 16th.

The lot just across the street at 4715 N. Western Ave., was scheduled to  be closed and worked on from October 15th - 22nd.

But as of Friday evening, the Western Ave. lot  was still open for parking.

Perhaps all the rain has delayed this resurfacing project.

It's great that CPM/LAZ is working to keep these lots in tip-top shape.

But, even with the staggered scheduled closings, it is still going to suck when you close off even one of these heavily utilized lots. Parking up in Lincoln Square is very challenging and these lots are consistently full.

So heads up to people who park in that area. I advise, at least during the day, parking on the neighborhood streets just west of Western Ave. Plenty of spaces and it's free to park with no residential permit restrictions until 6 PM.

UPDATE: It turns out (and I'm assuming because of all the rain last week), that the 2301 Leland lot did not get resurfaced last week.

So, the Western Ave. lot gets repaved this week and Leland gets taken care of the following week--at least according to the signs I saw Saturday morning.
